Description
Our honey bee queens are open mated and produced only from inspected colonies. Queens will only be sold to registered beekeepers within Nova Scotia.
All queens are confirmed to be mated, marked with this year’s colour, and their laying patterns evaluated before being sold
Queens will be caged without attendants for same-day installations. We can supply attendants on request if the queen cannot be installed on the same day she is picked up. If you request that attendants be provided, please remove them before installation to reduce the chances of rejection or injury to your new queen.
Our queen breeding priorities:
Each season we select a few colonies from which to produce queens and drones. The mother queens are selected based on the following qualities:
- Honey production
- Spring build-up
We are also working measures for the following qualities into our selection process:
- Gentleness
- Comb stability
- Reduced swarm tendency
Because we open mate our queens, we cannot offer any guarantees that daughters will have any specific qualities that you may desire. We do, however, do our best to use mother queens and drone colonies who best meet our selection criteria.
We do not sell our mother/breeder queens or our drone mother queens.
